Additional Notes: A typical 20th century Sunday outfit for a married woman from the Gelnica area of eastern Slovakia. The dress bodice was intentionally made from less expensive fabric as it was designed to be covered by the jacket so there was no need for the woman to use better fabric such as that used for the skirt or to add costly embellishments. The bodice can be removed entirely and the skirt can be worn separately if desired.
