Additional Notes: This style of apron was worn in approximately 10 villages around the town of Senica in the Zahorie region of Slovakia. This example is embellished with hand embroidery along the bottom edge. Made of special fabric that was made by weaving black and purple threads together resulting in an eggplant color cloth with a shimmery effect. This particular color apron was associated with stormy spring weather and there was even a saying commenting on this apron being worn when the storms started (referencing spring time when storms were most common). An uncommon example.
