Measurements: 9.75″ across x 6″ back to front (as shown in first photo)
Additional Notes: Traditionally these small painted caps were worn by unmarried girls in Staphorst, but with time they became accepted everyday headgear for women of all ages. The motifs are made using various size nail heads that are dipped in paint and applied to the cloth in various designs. A photo showing a woman using this technique is shown above. The last two photos show similar examples being worn in Staphorst.
