Additional Notes: Excellent early example of men’s outerwear from the Netherlands. Traditional double-breasted jacket made of fulled black cloth including all of the original cloth-covered black buttons. Expertly tailor made during the first half of the 20th century. Inside pocket. Traditionally worn open in the front with the buttons serving an exclusively decorative function. Deaccessioned from a Dutch museum with inventory number attached. Scarce. The last photo above shows this type of jacket displayed with a full folk costume during an exhibition in 1898.
