Description
Origin: Czech Republic | Moravia | Slovacko region
Era: Mid- to late-20th century (post 1950)
Condition: very good; several small spots; light wear and soiling along edges; suitable for both wear and display
Measurements: 26″ long
Additional Notes: Simpler version of the pleated festive aprons worn in the Uherske Hradiste region of Moravia. While the most decorative examples worn for major holidays and weddings were made of more elaborate fabrics and decorated with lace trim around the edges, simpler versions such as this would have been used for regular Sunday wear or family gatherings. In both instances the apron would be worn over a tightly pleated black back skirt called a sorec. Difficult color to describe, along the lines of champagne or light peach.
