Origin: Germany | Lower Saxony | Schaumburg region | Lindhorst municipality
Era: WWII era (circa 1930-1950)
Includes: red wool skirt, dark brown apron, blue shirt (Kamisol), vest, ruffle collar, necktie (Schlips), shoulder shawl, knitted arm sleeves, headdress
Condition: very good condition overall with minor signs of age and wear; headdress ribbons have some wear/cracks; suitable for both wear and display
Measurements (with garments laying flat):
  Vest – across front: 18.5″ between underarms
  Skirt – waist: up to 32″ around
  Skirt – length: 33.5″
Additional Notes: This is a married woman’s formal costume that would have been worn to church or other important events during somber times of the year or possibly during a late stage of mourning (not for high mourning). The apron is trimmed with wide black lace trim along the bottom. The vest has 10 lovely handmade buttons decorating the front panel. The headdress and necktie both feature black beadwork.
