Additional Notes: A lovely strand of antique faceted amber beads from eastern Europe. This is a choker style necklace measuring 16″ around. Amber necklaces such as this were worn by both peasant and later urban populations throughout eastern Europe including Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Belarus, and other Slavic countries as well as in the Baltic countries as part of the traditional folk costumes. The precise origin of this one is unknown. Beautiful color and sparkle. Amber was an important element of Slavic folklore and was worn for spiritual and physical protection by women throughout the region. The amber is completely natural and ancient with natural variation. The necklace is on the original string with original fully functional metal clasp as found.
