Description: Fantastic book presenting hundreds of illustrations by two Polish artists from the 18th-19th century: J. Glogowski and K.W. Kielisinski. The book discusses the importance of the artistic works by these two artists as first-hand documentation of local costumes and traditions from various parts of Poland (some of which are today located in Ukraine). There are several introductory essays presenting the history and context in which these paintings and drawings were created, and additional discussion of Polish and Ukrainian ethnographic studies related to these artists and their environment. There is also a 40-page essay comparing hooded cloaks in Polish and Ukrainian costume and their development through history.
