Additional Notes: This type of skirt was worn throughout the villages around Myjava in western Slovakia as a simpler version of the more festive white linen pleated kasanica skirt. Wrap style skirt made of shiny dark brown fabric (wool or a wool blend) that is open in the front where it would traditionally be covered by an apron. There is a concealed pocket on the side. The pleats are secured in place with stitching on the back side so they will stay in place beautifully with proper care.
