Era: WWII era (circa 1930-1950)
Condition: good; several small stress holes on front; couple repaired holes; slight fading along pleat edges; suitable for both wear and display
Measurements (with garments laying flat):
   Waist: 33.5″ around waistband (can be tied tighter as desired)
   Length: 27.5″
Additional Notes: This type of skirt was worn throughout the villages around Myjava in western Slovakia as a simpler version of the more festive white linen pleated kasanica skirt. Wrap style skirt made of shiny dark brown fabric (wool or a wool blend) that is open in the front where it would traditionally be covered by an apron. There is a concealed pocket on the side. The pleats are secured in place with stitching on the back side so they will stay in place beautifully with proper care.
